Saturday 23rd June 2012

Boys coming later, got in the supply of "milk" and "food" they will be here till late afternoon possibly for tea as well,  knowing our boys.

These cards are all made from my "Bit Box".  When I can no longer squeeze more in I do have a clear out, however we were at Hazels yesterday to see how she was after her last dose of Chemo on Tuesday past.  Hazel had very sore joints and was taking things easy.  We did get plenty of chat in, we always do!!  Hazel mentioned that she had used a little card in a box that had been with some stock we had left from a Craft Thing we had done in the past.  Said it had been very handy, the card had been in a box just deep enough to take one of our Pendants we are making at the moment, the combination was ideal for the gift she was giving.  Came home, electric was still off but Hey! Ho! you don`t really need electric to craft in daylight!!!   Here are some of the cards I made, these are a bit bigger than the ones Hazel will get but I have done some smaller as well.  Most will need boxes, they have my favourite flowers and leaves on them.   In boxes they make a great "Handing Over" card rather than a "Posting Card".    Might get the boxes made even if the boys are here, Thomas likes to be at the Model Railway with his Grandpa, or even away on their bikes.   Robert has just learnt to ride his bike and is not confident enough to be out on the open road just yet.  Robert loves "Playing with paper" and using my CuttleBug so we can work away together.

That`s it for today

Birthday Card

Friday 22nd June 2012
Good Morning, horrible here today.  This will be a quick post, we are to be without Electricity from 8am till 5.30pm today for maintenance to the overhead lines.  I will try to get as much done before then as possible.  We were hoping it would be a nice day and take ourselves off out, but might just get the coal fire lit, look out some good books, my cosy Slanket and make the best of a lazy day. We have a Gas hob so will still be able to cook and have plenty of cups of tea.

My card today is an order I got from my Niece for her Mother-in-Law.  She had looked in the shops but could not find anything she really liked.............Aunty Patricia to the rescue.

Backing Papers are from Rob Adam`s Printable Gingham and Polka Dot CD
Flowers made using Spellbinders Blossom Dies and bits of the backing papers
A few die cut leaves, some corners and a few sick on Pearls
The lace I buy when I am in Turkey it is so cheap there you can afford to put it on lots of cards
Will be stocking up in September when Hazel and I have our Annual Holiday there.

That`s it for today

Relax

 Wednesday 20th June 2012

Good Morning, nice and sunny at this early hour, I do hope it lasts.

Card today is made using a Digital downloaded image from Mo`s Digital Pencil, "Danielle with Laptop".
I have a few of Mo`s images, she has some real quirky ones, they are very reasonably priced.  I find the digital images suit me, I am not really a stamper, I find if I buy "Stamps" for the money I pay I do not get the use out of them.  I pay around £2 for a Digital one and if I only use once or twice I don`t feel so guilty spending the money.  You can spend that amount on a cup of coffee!!!
The papers are printed from Rob Adams "Printable Gingham and Tartan Backing Papers CD.  I have used this CD so much it has started making very peculiar noises when it is running.  I really should have used a more contrasting colour for the chair, you do not see Danielle`s skin to well against it, you know what they say.....you live and learn, this is an example of that.  Finished it off with some faux stitching, Mulberry Paper flowers I got as a FreeB from Wild Orchid Crafts in with an order, a ribbon, bow and a couple of charms from my stash.
Off to get my Ironing up to date, I like to iron early in the morning, should have done Monday`s lot yesterday but never got round to it. My post yesterday was rather longer than normal.   I have Monday`s and yesterday`s to tackle now.
That`s it for today

Flying Scotsma

Good Tuesday Morning, raining once again but does look like it will clear up later, I do  hope so.

This is my project with Thomas.

A few weeks ago I got "Granny " I knew by the tone of his voice there was a "Plan" coming..........
"Yes Thomas"  "Will you make Flying Scotsman for me?"  "Oh! Thomas that`s a bit too much for even for me"  "No Granny you can do it, I want it made of card, you can do anything with card".  "I will draw what I want, you just have to help me cut out the bits, and help me stick them together"  Well with that in my mind I just had to TRY!!!!
He knew exactly what he wanted, chose the card, cleared the table and I am sure he thought it would be done in 10mins, three weeks later this is what we had.  He forgot that we needed to think this through and really plan.  However the more we chatted about it the more excited he got, the love and friendship that was created by "playing with paper" was amazing.  The boiler is the inside tube of something, I save bits and pieces like this just in case...........................!! we have in the past made Binoculars from the insides of Loo Rolls.  Different sized tins have been painted and decorated then stuck on heavy duty card as a Desk Tidy for Daddy,  both Thomas and Robert were involved in that task.  I keep lots of "Things" stored in a box which I have to admit has to be cleared out quite frequently or it would take over, it is mind boggeling how things seem to breed in that box...................I was sure I had not put so many things in it!!!!!
Not a "Perfect or anything like to scale model" but it has made one wee boy very happy and I was pleased to help him.  It is displayed on the sideboard in our dining room, for how long it will be there I really do not know.  Children grow up so fast that it will be there as long as he wants it to there.  Oh! by the way the "Coal" is wrappers from After Eight Mints,  now, how is that for Thinking Out Of The Box......................

That`s it for today

Mirror Mirror

Good Monday Morning, a bit brighter here, still not great but least the rain is off at the moment.
Quick Post this morning this is bed change and big cleaning day here in this house.

This is a cheap plain wood Mirror I bought in Ikea, decorated using the Cracked Wood Effect I mentioned in the earlier Post with the little Baskets.  I did a couple of them and as you can see I used my favourite flowers and leaves Crealie Dies to embellish them.  The leaf Die will soon be needing replaced... .... I wonder why??
I made these for a Craft Fair Hazel and I did and they shot off the stall, really must have a look for something similar a bit closer to home our nearest Ikea is Edinburgh.

That`s it for today

Base Card is 6x6 there are a few mats, topped off with Centura Pearl Card embossed using a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
