"Welcome Baby Isla"

Saturday 25th August 2012
Good Morning Blog friends Thank You for stopping by to visit, I love to read your comments.

It is quite dark at this early hour so I really can not see what the weather might be like today, the sky is clear, the paths round the house are dry!!
Hazel and I have a table at the Street Fair in Glamis 1pm till 4pm this afternoon.  The organisers have said not to come if it is raining it would be a waste of time.  It will not rain, it will not rain, it will not rain, do you think if I say it enough the rain will stay away from say, 11.45 when I will leave the house to go set up, till 4pm when it finishes, certainly do hope so.  We are Fundraising for a good cause and want to do well.

My dear friend Oriel, over in Ballywalter, Northern Ireland,  phoned me yesterday telling me her daughter had a baby girl on Tuesday. Here is the card I made to celebrate the occasion.  I have used this image many times, I just love it.

Base card A4 Centura Pearl card folded Tent style
Pink Co-Ordinations card
Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles for fancy matt
Image from Joanna Sheen`s Baby Love CD printed on Canvas Paper
Spellbinder Parisian Accent Die (I think) for the triple lace effect
American seam binding for my triple bow
Pink felt rolled into roses and my favourite leaves cut with a Crealies Die
Sentiment done on the computer
I also added a pearl in the roses

I made a card for the proud Grandparents as well, this is their 5th Grandchild.   Cards now ready to  post when I am on my way along to Glamis later today.

That`s it for today
Thank you for calling it is much appreciated

"Just a Note"

 Friday 24th August 2012
Good Morning Blog friends Thank You for popping by to visit.
Here in Perthshire, Scotland it is pouring rain, looking out it could be November Oh! where Oh! where did our summer go this year????

My card today is made using a beautiful image I was sent in an Angel Envelope from Julie Rose on the Joanna Sheen Forum.  I was very lucky she sent me another few good images just asking  to be made into cards, thank you Julie.

Base card approx 5 x 8  cut from a pack of card I got from my sister Hazel
Navy card that was also in my Angel Envelope
White card distressed using Antique Linen and Fired Brick inks to match Post box
Cut out image
Sentiment done on computer

I had to pop the sentiment where it is because I had managed to get a "blob" of red right there, but it looks OK I think

Hazel and I are hoping to do the Street Fair at Glamis tomorrow, I do hope it is a reasonable day.  I am going to get everything ready today, iron the Table Cloth, get the Float ready, check our stock  -   we certainly have plenty.   Will  load  my car tomorrow morning after we check out the weather.  Keep your fingers crossed for us......................we are doing this to raise money for the Chemo Unit where Hazel has had her treatment.  The staff at the unit have been wonderful, always so ready to help and always smiling.

That`s it for today
Thank you for calling in it is much appreciated

"Altered Cheese Box"

Thursday 23rd August 2012
Good Morning and welcome to my Blog your visit is much appreciated
It is very early in the morning so still quite dark as I do this.   The paths round the house are dry, the sky to the front is clear, to East and North there are a few clouds, on the whole it looks like it could be a good day.

Not a card today.
Last week I bought cheese triangles in this deep box, right away I had "crafty thoughts".  I emptied the triangles into another container and had the empty box sitting out and twice I had to retrieve it from the paper re-cycling container in the house, John and his tidying up!!!!!   When I told him I wanted it for a project, he rolled his eyes in disbelief ........................a cheese box!!!!  Yep! a cheese box, so here it is, actually I think he is rather impressed.

One deep cheese triangle box
Painted inside and out with Sheena Douglas Paint in pink...well what else!
Base covered with some pale patterned backing paper from the Bit Box and
Deep lace from my Lace Box threaded with some pink ribbon
Narrow ribbon and lace were also used to cover the outside of the lid
I cut a Spellbinders Scalloped Circle and  Lacy Circles placed them on the top
I cut Spellbinders Classic Circles to make the rose, leaves from the Foliage set
Tied a double bow with some narrow lace, all placed on the top

Sssshh!!  I will let you into a little secret, once all the decoration was done the lid did not fit...............typical, should have thought of that!!!
However, I will fill the box with some Home Made Truffles, leave the lid open a little "decoratively" tie it all up with Cellophane to give to my neighbour Ann for her birthday.  Her husband Ian cuts the grass along the road outside of both our properties, they have a ride-on so it is so much easier.  We have fantastic neighbours who have been a great help over the past few years after John had a bad accident, really do not know what we would have done without them.

That`s it for today,
Thank you for stopping by

"Buttons and Bows"

Wednesday 22nd August 2012
Good morning and welcome to my Blog today, thank you so much for stopping by I really do appreciate it.
Today as I look out the front of my house I see the hills clear and bright, look out the back....no hills can been seen for storm clouds, goodness knows what we will get.  Certainly feel we have had more than enough Monsoon style rain, the showers we had all day yesterday were horrendous.  Hazel and I had to have another cuppa to pass time till we could get to our cars yesterday, any excuse for more chat!!!!

I was rummaging in one of my boxes the other day and found a few things I forgot I had, does that sound familiar??  The four buttons mounted on the little card are actually beads, I bought them thinking I could use then on a pendant, the holes were far too small to get wire through.  I had put then away, with the big brads and the little lace heart that are also on the card, to use sometime....now found and used.

Base card 6x6 from Joanna Sheen
Pink card from stock
Backing paper printed from MCS Floriography CD 2
Card with the buttons is just a scrape piece I cut to size
I distressed the edges and squiggled a border round added a flourish and the word Buttons
Buttons, Brads, Lace Heart and border Lace all from a Bit Box
Organza Ribbon tied in a triple loop bow using my trusty home made Bowmaker
Sentiment done on computer

I am going to try and enter this in the Ribbon Girls Challenge for August
I am not good on the computer, as a matter of fact I am rather stupid when it comes to things like this but I will have a go and see what happens.  I "can" actually read, but am hopeless at reading technical instructions.  Give me a complicated knitting pattern, a sewing pattern I manage those no problem.  Never mind the worst that can happen is it does not work......................

That`s it for today
Hope to see you again soon

"Pink and White"

Tuesday 21st August 2012
Good Morning thank you for stopping by to visit today
Well, the weather......!!!! it is very thick misty stuff at the moment, I can hardly see the other side of the street. Hopefully that will burn away soon I am off out this morning to meet Hazel for coffee and a chat.   Doing the Street Fair at Glamis on Saturday, we have both been making bits and pieces for this.  Will get all Hazels things, I live just a few miles along the road from Glamis, I will do the setting up that way Hazel does not have to be at Glamis till just before 1pm the official opening time.  We are hoping to do well as the money is for the Chemo Unit where Hazel has been having her treatment.  This will let them get extra things for the comfort of the patients.

My card today was inspired by one of Jenny`s I saw on her Blog, Cardsarus, pop over and have a look she has some really nice cards on there

Base card 8 x 6 cut from A3 Centura pearl from Crafter`s Companion
There is a white matt pricked round the edge next but the photo does not show this well
Pink card from stock embossed using a leaf Mask
Spellbinders accent border "Moroccan" I think!!
Circle embellishment made up of  Spellbinder Dies
"Lacy Circles and Daisy"
I cut 2 circles and offset them before adding daisies alternating pink and white
I added a large crystal gem, one off a sheet of them I got in an Angel Envelope from a member of the Joanna Sheen Forum
American seam binding 4 loop bow I tied on my "home made" Bowmaker
A Creative Expression Dazzler from Sam Poole Crafts to finish off the center
Sentiment done on the computer and added to pink card, I finished off the end like a fish tail

This card is a bit bigger than my usual, I do have someone in mind for it, will make a nice box rather than just my standard white box.
I had been using Spellbinder Dies for years before I had even thought of a Blog.  Normally I just cut open the packets put the dies on Magnetic Sheets and popped them in little plastic wallets that Lili of the Valley sell very cheap.  I still do that but have learnt at least stick the name of the die on the back of the sheet so that I can tell you what I have used............you live and learn!!

That`s it for today
Thank you for stopping I really do appreciate it

"Happy Retirement"

Monday 20th August 2012
Happy Monday morning, I am so glad you have stopped by to visit
Weather today is very low cloud, dull, damp and rather miserable at the moment, I am sure it might clear later, Oh! do hope so

My card today is another order, had to be kept flat for posting.  Regular visitors will realise that I really do not do "flat" cards.  However I managed to get some movement on this one with my leaves. The couple the card is for are retiring together, are keen gardeners and he is a Bird Watcher

Base A4 soft white hammered card folded to A5
Leaf mask used to emboss white matt which I lightly distressed
Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles Die
Image from Joanna Sheen`s Eastern Treasures CD
Leaves Creallies die from Joanna Sheen
Sentiment done on computer

I love doing orders, I get the customers input as to what they want but the best bit I like to hear is they want it in a box..................... Wow! then I can go to town on embellishments

I use lots of Spellbinder Dies and Folders which I get from www.iconuk.co.uk  great prices, excellent delivery and free P&P  They have all the new dies, some are on pre-order but delivery dates are within this week

That`s it for today, and thank you for looking in it is appreciated

"Happy 21st"

Sunday 19th August 2012
Good Morning and welcome to my Blog your visits really are appreciated
The sun is shining, the sky is completely cloud free Oh! My! Word! I think it is going to be like summer today

My card is one of a few I had as an order from a neighbour, this is for her Granddaughters 21st birthday

Base card 5 x 7 approx cut from Kraft Card
White embossed with Spellbinders M-Bossing folder "Paisley"
Spellbinder Fancy Floral Oval Dies cut in Kraft card
Dress, shoes and wine glasses from Dianne`s Die Cuts
Stickles used for all the bubbles
Sentiment done on computer

I just hope it is OK I find that girls of 21 vary so much these days.  What will suit one certainly would not suit the next, her Gran did say dresses and shoes would be her choice

That`s it for today
Thank you for popping in, hope you liked my card today
