" Thomas`s Brooch"

Hello Blog friends, Oh! My! Word! only 3 more sleeps.  Hope you are not beginning to panic!!!  You know what they say?  Worry causes premature aging, now we certainly do not want that do we!!!!
Thank you for calling by today.
I personally feel the time I spend having a wee hop round Blogland is very relaxing.

Quick post today.

Last week when we were at the boys School Christmas Play there were things for sale that the children had made.   Robert class (that`s the 5,6, and 7`s) had made a couple of things each from Candy Canes and Lolly Pop Sticks , Thomas`s class ( 8, 9,10 and 11`s) had made some cakes and three Brooches each.  Of course we had to buy the things "ours" have made.  Thomas`s brooches were all sold, Audrey bought one, I bought one and Elaine bought the other .  We bought up the things Robert had made as well, so both of them were very happy.  Actually there was nothing left by the end of the evening.

These Brooches are so, so clever.  They are actually made from old clothes.  The base is a circle cut from a sweater, the flower is the "Rib" part of another sweater cut in a concentric circle, rolled to make the flower.  He has obviously been watching Granny!!!!   Then the addition of buttons to finish it all off.   The children were all so pleased their things sold.   Everyone was taking about how wonderful the things to buy were. .  The children did all the sewing themselves apart from a few machine sewed bits done by a teacher.

That`s it for today
Thank you so much for calling in I really do appreciate it

"Crafty Gift for Elaine"

Hello Blog friends, how is it all going???   I hope you are not getting too stressed out, remember it is only one day!!  I know we want everything just perfect BUT!!! there is a limit.   None of us is "Wonder Woman"  I know we all like to think we are but please take it easy.

Got a funny story to tell:-
You all admired my card yesterday well!!!...................guess what!!   Elaine did not open her card here last night.  She said she wanted to take it home and open with Doug.
She text me this morning "Hi Sweet Friend we LOVE our card.  Will we get the insert for it when I come next Thursday"  Oh! My! Goodness!  I had forgotten to put the insert in..................stupid or what???  No don`t answer that.   Went into the Dining Room and there it was sitting on the table, printed and ready to be put in.  I must have been disturbed between getting it ready and actually putting it in the card.  That just had to be John wanting me to do something for him.....................well I have blame someone cause! it certainly was not ME!!!!.......................LOL
Thank heavens Elaine is natured like she is and saw the funny side of the situation.  We will laugh about this for months to come.

I hope this little Crafty Gift I included with her Christmas present makes up for it
Every year I make a little "Crafty Gift" for Elaine.  It can be anything at all, I like to include one with her actual present.
This is this years offering

A few weeks ago I bought some little canvases out of the "Works"  £1.99 each complete with the stand.   Had no plans for them at the time but felt I had to have some.
Sprayed with Crafter`s Companion Multicoloured Spray & Sparkle
I had a Fancy Lattice Die cut in my Bit Box that I used for the background
Cut the Butterflies with Spellbinder Les Papillons Die using bits I had left over from making some of the Gift Bags plus bits of white card.
Made the box you see behind for it to go in,  so all in all a Crafty Gift for almost no money.

That`s it for today
Thank you for calling by I really do appreciate it, especially now when time is in short supply for us all.

"Elaine`s Christmas Card"

Hello Blog Friends, only 5 more sleeps!!   How are things going??
Thank you so much for taking time out to have a look to see what is going on in this little corner of Blogland.
Don`t know about where you are but oh! my! goodness! it has been Dark, Extremely Wet, Windy and very miserable all day here.
Making this short as there is not that much "Free" time at the moment.
By the way both my neighbour and her friend were delighted with yesterday`s card.  Makes it all worth while.

This is a card for my friend Elaine and her Hubby Doug.

If  you are a follower of Sue Wilson`s Blog you will know where I got the idea that I used for this.

Base card 8 x 8
Sue`s "milk" coloured card  was used for all layers
First layer pierced round the perimeter
Next layer using "Garden Lattice" embossing board
Borders cut using Asian Accents.  Sue showed on C&C how to mitre the corners
I don`t have the Asian Motifs, I used Lacy Doily Square with an Asian Accent Circle
Layered Poinsettia inked in the Die using Walnut Stain
Computer generated greeting cut using Large Banner Die
Pearls from WOC

Elaine came tonight, I gave her the card so I can now show it
The pearl is over the "i" in Elaine suppose it is just a Tad too big but hey! Ho! it is done now.
Actually looks OK in reality.

That`s it for today
Thank you so much for taking time to come and visit I really appreciate it

"Birthday Wish"

Hello Blog Friends, only 6 mores sleeps.
Thank you for calling today, I really appreciate it.
As I said yesterday, I am not doing a lot of crafting.   I had a phone call from a neighbour asking if I was too busy to make a card for her.  Her friend would be coming later today and there was no way she could get a card.  She had had a card but made a mess of writing it, she sounded so anxious on the phone.  Well what can you do!!!  when you have no bus service and are 3 miles in either direction to the nearest shop.  Then of course as you can imagine there is a very limited choice of cards.

Here is my quick card.

Base Pink card stock approx 5 x 7
Border punched using a Martha Stewart Punch
Doily cut using a Cheery Lynn Die
Spellbinder Blossom four Die for the flower
Crealies Die for the leaves
Pink American Seam Binding tied in a quadruple bow
Butterfly charm
Computer generated sentiment
Made a Box for the card and all delivered

That`s it for today
Thank you for visiting

"Thank You"

Hello blog friends, only a week till the "Big Day".
Then we will all be busy clearing up the "mess" not made by just us, but everyone else as well!!!!  "
All that paper, ribbon, food, etc:-   I am sure a lot of us will sit back and wonder how we managed to get there, having everything done so that a great time was had by all.
I am making the meal at my house then transporting it along to John and Audrey`s.   Audrey is working Night Shift Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Babies really do not care what day they choose to arrive!!!  I do not know how Audrey is going to manage as she will get very little sleep.

I needed some Glue Sticks so popped into Hobbycraft, on the way into Dundee. . We do not have any Craft Shops near us, Hobbycraft  Dundee and a little craft shop in Perth.  Both are rather expensive but needs must so I went to get my glue sticks.   When we drew up at Hobbycraft I noticed a sign at Staples saying they were closing, goodness that`s where I get my paper for printing. When I asked the girl were they moving "Oh! no we are closing, your nearest will be Edinburgh or Aberdeen"   Heck of a long way to go to get paper.   Stocked up on some 160gsm and 120 gsm paper.  Did not really need it but now I have plenty.

Card today was one made from the my "Bit Box" I needed a thank you note for a friend.
Very simple but was just what was needed.

Card base Kraft Card approx 4 x 6
Piece of printed paper, did some Faux stitching round the edge
Brown card cut using Spellbinders Deckle Edge Die
Cream card cut using the smaller size Deckle edge Die
Brown American seam binding
Some Pearl dots using Cosmic Shimmer Glue
Wrote the sentiment

That` it for today
Thank you for taking time to pop in I really appreciate it.

"Thanks"

Hello Blog friends, thank you for calling by today.  I really love that you keep popping in.
Thank you for all you extremely lovely comments on my earlier Post.   I really do wish you could have come for a cuppa, it would have been great.
Had a very quite day here today, for some reason I just needed some "me time".  On the whole there is only John and I in the house most days.  John spends his time at his hobby, in the attic with his Model Railway.  I have all the time I want in the kitchen"Playing with Paper".  Till it comes to meal times that is!!!!   Seems rather selfish when I read this back, I am sure a few of you will know what I mean I just wanted time to do "NOTHING"
OK, I am not really capable of doing nothing!!!   Did do some playing, at one point the kitchen looked like someone had thrown a Hand Grenade in....................but I was happy the mess was just from me "playing".

One of my part finished cards now finished off and ready to send
I use this "basic design" a lot.  When I hit that "Oh! what can I do" time, I just make this style of card.
You can make them look so different depending on what colours you use.
I have to remember who I have already sent one to or who commissioned a card and did I make it using this design.
In the New Year I think I will start a Note Book where I write down Dates, Card Styles I have sent to friends etc:- and the ones I have been commissioned to make.

Base card cut from White Card Stock approx 4 x 6
Backing paper
Spellbinder Fancy Lattice Die cut in white card
Piece of lace from my Lace Box
Rose using Spellbinder Blossom Five Die
Leaves Spellbinder Foliage Die and some punched leaves
Three pearl pins from Wild Orchid Crafts
Thank You a Stamping Up Stamp

That`s it for today
Thank you for calling by I do appreciate it
