"Oldie for Friday"

Hello Blog friends, hope you are all well, if not here are a few ((((hugs)))) in hope that they help.
If you have followed me for 2 years plus, you will know that my sister and best friend Hazel (hazelsbasketsof joy) has been through a lot starting in 2012.  Hysterectomy, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and of course doubts.  While she was recovering from the Hysterectomy I would do the round trip of 100 miles every other day to keep her company.  That was all well and good but we needed something to do.  We decided to make something that we could sell to raise money for the Cancer Unit at the Hospital.  What would we make???? we both had bits and pieces of "all sorts of things"  It had to be something Hazel could do without straining herself.   Here is what we hit on ......

These are mostly the pendants I made.
Hazel went for a "tear drop design" ... rather than shed the tears she made "Tear Drop" shaped pendants instead.  If you zoom in you will see a few of Hazels in there.
We made and sold hundreds of these raising money for The Chemo Unit, The Maggies Centre, plus other affiliated units at the hospital.  We still raise a little money which we use to buy good quality Tea Bags, Coffee and nice biscuits for the trolley at the Chemo Unit. That way patients attending and the people accompanying them get a nice cuppa and a treat.
We are very honoured that the lovely Sue Wilson mentioned us on Create and Craft promoting us while wearing our Pendants.  Thank you Sue with your help our sales soared, we will always be grateful for that.

That`s it for today
Thank you so much for dropping by I really appreciate it.  Hope to see you again soon
Till next time
Hugs

P.S. Quite a few of  the followers of both Hazel and my Blogs have supported us and bought our pendants.  Thank you one and all, without your support we would not have raised the funds we have.

  7. Morning Patricia, This is a lovely write-up and it is great to see your fabulous pendants again, Hazel and you have made a massive difference to your Chemo Unit, and providing tea, coffee and biscuits for them will be greatly appreciated by all the visitors there. It was fantastic of Sue to give you a 'plug' on C&C, she is a lovely lady.

  11. To think of the hours we had put into making our pendants, but everyone was worth it. I think when I went up yesterday with the nappy cake order they where surprised I hadn't brought our usual haul of goodies, I am sure that's the first time ever I have not taken. Will go shopping before I go for my check up on Monday. Thank to those who have supported us. Hazel xx

  15. Greetings Patricia, wow I never realized all the health scares you two faced. What a wonderful idea to create something that others can enjoy and would help the Chemo Unit. The pendants are such a fun and clever idea.

  16. Hi Patricia. I was one of those who ordered one of your pendants having seeing Sue wear one and mention your cause - I ordered without seeing it (black & white) of course and I absolutely love it xx we had an exchange of e-mails after and you very kindly sent me a neck cord to hang it from - it is so unusual and every time I wear it - it reminds of you and Hazel and the reason behind the making of them xx have a fab weekend xx GailT xx

  24. This is such an inspiring post and the pendants are absolutely beautiful, such pretty details and colours. Your sister must be such a strong person to go through that and it is wonderful that she has such a supportive sister and friend in you. This is such a special thing you've done - something as small as a good cup of tea can make a big difference to someone's day. Keep up the good work!
    Rebecca.
