A Bit Sad Today

Happy Sunday everyone, hope the weather is good for you today.  Here today we have, bright, cloudy with occasional glimpses of sunshine only very occasion though!!!
Well folks!! yesterday did not work out as Hazel and had planned.  Hazel and I live approx 50 miles apart.  Our neatest equal meeting up point for trips away is Perth.  I leave my car, we travel onwards using Hazel`s .... Hazel does not do being a passenger.  Yesterday the weather was shocking to say the least, we decided to start out early for our meet up with our Blog friend Maureen who was coming up from Newcastle.  Roads were flooded, the fog was thick, the rain was lashing down so hard the wipers were on double speed.  We got to the Park & Ride outside Edinburgh (parking in the city is a BIG no!no!)  We were on the bus when Hazel`s phone "dinged" a message from Maureen.  She would not make it.  Her brother had a Heart Attack and was being worked on by the Paramedics.  10 mins later the sad news came though, he had died.   Talk about sad and deflated, we just sat and looked at each other.   Thank goodness Maureen was at home, and not on the train by herself when the news came though.  We went had a cup of tea to get our heads round the news then headed for home.  What started out full of excitement ended on a very sad note.
So please let things like this be a lesson to us all.  Its the ones we love and treasure that are the most import things in life.   The stupid petty things that cause so much hurt and bad feeling are so insignificant.  People should think more before hurting others.  The world today is in such a state we need to treasure every day we are given.  Sending (((((hugs))))) to everyone who visits.
I have a Retirement card to share with you:-

Base card Pink Card Stock from PMD
Scrap of BoBunny Paper from a Crafters Companion CD
Rose made from 160gsm. paper I use for making Roses
Few leaves from my Die Cut Bits Box
Computer generated sentiment and hand made banner
I saw the design for this card on  http://glendabrooks.blogspot.co.uk/
Glenda makes wonderful cards using the most beautiful flowers.  As most of you know I also love making flowers so I am an avid follower.
My friend Kate, in Inverness Retired last week.   I used Glenda`s design and made this card.  Kate has received it so I can show it now.

That`s it from me today
Off to make a card, I think you will know the kind ... one we really hate to make and send!
Thank you for your visit I really appreciate it
Till next time
Hugs

  1. Patricia how true are your words and what a sad sad day for you all. My heart goes out to everyone and yes it is a lesson we must learn from...life is too short and the world is breaking apart....just here in Australia, a son stabbed his dad, a well known football coach, to death due to being on that horrid drug ICE...deadly world we live in and that is why we spend so much time with my dad each day as the rest of the family 'don't have time or don't have money to fly here but they can go to Europe for holidays??
    hugs to you all...

    oh lovely card too Patricia.xxxxx{aNNie My Personal Blog}

  5. Well big sis, your words are so true, as we said yesterday you don't know what's is in store for us each day. We haven't meet Maureen in person, that was to be the high light of yesterday but oh she has become a big part of our lives over the months we have known her and the others we chat to. Like your card for Kate. She started out as a blogging friend and we have become such good friends since we meet over 2 years ago, and we have shared her jouney, the up and downs of her job being no longer there. Her card is beautiful, she will love it. Hazel xxx

You are so right that we do not know what is around the corner - my husband has had yet another stroke and they hit with no warning and they bring life to a standstill.

  9. It's lovely. Can you make me one like that when (if) I finally retire? Kate will love it.
Someone I know always writes, "Live for today. Tomorrow is a promise that might or might not be kept"
    worth remembering.
It was tough on you and Hazel yesterday, but thanks for passing the message on.

  10. OMG Patricia how awful for Maureen, what a thing to happen, and such saddness for you and Hazel too, kinda takes your breath away receiving news like that when you were expecting to have such a happy day meeting up with Maureen. You never know the minute and it fairly brings thing into perspective. You are absolutely right, time is too short to worry about the petty things that life throws at you. I don't know Maureen, not sure who she is on blogland, but my heart goes out to her and here family.

Well, you know I just love my card, still on display besides Hazel's beautiful one. Just having thunder at the moment, take cae, hugs Kate x

  12. Hi Patricia, What a terribly sad end to your day, my heart goes out to Maureen and her Brother's family, no-one knows from one minute to the next what is in store for us, and like the saying goes 'live each moment as if it is your last ........'. Sadly, most of us don't do this.
I, personally have worked myself up into such a state over a couple of things today, my blood pressure must be hitting the roof, but this has brought it home to me. Your day started out with such gladness and ended up with such sadness, my heart goes out to you all.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

  14. Oh Patricia, I am so sorry to hear such sad devastating news. Your words are so true, we need to make the most of what we have in life and not moan about what we do not have. Life is too short.

  16. Hi Patricia,
oh I am sorry to hear this, and may i add my deepest sympathy to your friend Maureen, and her brothers family.
As you say we never know what is round the next bend in life for us, so what is the use of fighting, and quarreling.
If everyone took that attitude what a lovely place this world would be to live in.
No more wars or arguing, just peace and love with every ones neighbour.

Your card is lovely, and what a very fab design, and of course that very beautiful rose.
I have just created a different flower with my rose die, and am so pleased because this means it's not just for one flower, as I do like to get my monies worth out of my dies.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  18. Never truer words have been spoken Patricia I know just how excited you all were at meeting up yesterday and I was so looking forward to hearing all about it. I was numb when I got your email and the one from Maureen had me in tears. She was especially excited in her email to me yesterday morning just before tragedy came knocking for her. She said last night she was numb and that I think is the first reaction to such news. She will need us all over the coming weeks I am sure bless her.
Your card is so beautiful for your friend I hope she liked it.
I too am making a card today, just like you.

  19. Hi Patricia
Such a sad time and I feel for you and Hazel as well as dear Maureen.
It puts any glitches I've had in the last couple of weeks in perspective.
Sadly, the world will continue to behave in the way it does and all we can do is our own best and embrace kindness and love when we find it.
Kate's card is soooo pretty and no wound she loves it.
    Take care.

  22. Hi Patricia,
What a lovely blog you have written today. It has come straight from the heart. I was excited for all three of you yesterday too and was thinking it was bout time for you to meet up when Maureen's text came! I just couldn't believe it. It is so very true - we can fall out over trivia and in the end none of it matters. Caring for each other and enjoying our lives and being thankful for what we have is so much more important.
Thank you Patricia. I'm sorry Hazel and you were upset too.
Maureen I think has a special place in our hearts and our thoughts and prayers are with her and the family tonight and the days ahead.
Your card is so pretty. Thank you for that too.
I'm upset as I'm away from home and can't make that card yet!
    Sending hugs ,
    Love Myra xxx

Love your card was going to say it suited your summer weather but it seems not. Have been aiming to make one of this design myself but never seem to have the time and it is so cold in my craftroom at this time of the year.

  30. Oh my goodness. So sad to read this, and so painful for your friend. I'm happy that at least you & Sister had a meetup, and that the bad weather didn't cause further difficulties. Loved this absolute stunner that you've shared today. Big hugs to you both, and you had some very insightful comments about the frailities of life. We just never know what comes next...so cherish each moment and each of our loves in life. TFS & Hugs
