White on White

Hello everyone hope you are all well and had a good weekend.
Things are getting a bit busy round here with the boys being off school.  They like to come along to go out cycling Grandpa.   Mum does not cycle, dad who does cycle is at work during the day. evenings are family time or football training.   Like mum I don`t cycle I would rather walk, I just feed them all, that`s a "full time" job .... boys need fed especially ours that`s for sure.
I have a very simple little card for today.

This card is made using bits left over from a project
White Base card 4x6
White card embossed using a Folder
SB Dies for the little frame cut  from a scrap of card
Punched flower dusted lightly with ink
Tag cut from a scrap and stamped with a SU sentiment
That`s it for today
Thank you for calling by I really appreciate it

Little Boxes!!!

Hello Blog friends and followers, hope you have all had a good weekend.  All fine here although it was rather quiet, John, Audrey and the boys are off "camping" for a few days.  The boys finished school on Friday for their summer break, fingers crossed they get some good weather.  They are not having their BIG holiday till October, they have a few things lined up for the weeks the boys are off for summer.
I was trawling through Pinterest on Friday afternoon and found a brilliant Tutorial by www.pootles.co.uk  for little hexagonal boxes.  It is a very quick and easy, straight forward little box to make.  The bonus for me was I did not need to make a lid!!!  I have been making Hexagonal boxes and find getting the lids to fit properly a right pain.
When I make something for the first time be it one of my own designs or a Tutorial, I always make  one from just plain Bog Standard Card.  I never us my good card till I know it will work out.
Here are the boxes I made:-

These are all made from basic 250/300gsm card stock plus bits of card and paper from my Bit Box
They will hold 3 or 4 Nail Polishes.
I have done a Nail Polish & a Gel Coat with some tissue for a little gift I needed
They also hold a mini toothpaste, fold up toothbrush, a tube of moisturiser and a mini deodorant.
Great little gift for some one off on holiday.

Have a look on Pootles website she has some great tutorials for little boxes that are all so easy to follow.

That`s it for today
Thank you for calling by I really appreciate it
Have a great week

Jeepers Creepers

Hello Blog friends hope you are all well.
The schools in our area finish this week to start the summer break.  I do hope the weather improves some what for the children to be outside as much as possible.  We don`t child mind, however the boys will be along here a fair few times no doubt.  We all live out in the country just 8miles apart. We have the added attraction of lots of woods where they can climb trees.

I had a request for a card for an 11 year girl .... !!!!
Here is what I came up with, thank goodness the Granny was delighted.

The stamps I have had for a couple of years, they are in my album of stamps.
Sorry folks I have not a clue which Companies stamps they are.
I paper pieced the boots and coloured bits of them
The little verse stamp came with the boot stamp. Happy Birthday is a very old StampinUp stamp
That`s it for today
Thank you for your visit and all your comments I really appreciate them.
Have a great weekend

Gift box for a Man

Hello Blog friends and followers hope you are all well.
After such along spell away from Blogging I would like thank everyone who has popped in recently for their loyal support.
I made the bags shown in my last post for the two female teachers at Robert`s school.  They also have a man teacher part-time who Robert really likes.  Robert and the teacher get on very well, they are both into music especially Drums.  Robert also plays guitar taught by dad.  Thomas is very left handed and although he also plays guitar he gets rather frustrated sometimes.  Give Thomas a problem to sort out, he is much happier doing that.
Anyway here is my box:-

Base Kraft Card
Paisley Card is Kanban card I have had for years
The only thing I found difficulty about the box was getting the lid to fit
However 2nd go was the better fit
I used a big button as the embellishment

Audrey (DIL) has mini products for men to put in it.

That`s it from me for today
Thank you so much for your visit I really appreciate each and every one
Till next time

Gift Bags!

Hello Blog friends and followers, thank you for calling by.  If you landed here because you pressed a wrong button, welcome, please stay a while. If you have time please leave a comment so I know you called.
I hope you have all had a good weekend and looking forward to the week ahead.
Here in this part of the North East of East Scotland the children finish school on Friday for the summer.  I do hope we get a glimpse of it while they are off, we did have a couple of days last week and the week before.  That was it for our part of the world.
I had a few Gift Bags to make for Teacher Gifts, thank goodness Robert goes to a tiny little school.
Here are two bags I have made:-

XCut Die for the bags
SB & SW Foliage Dies
SB Garden Blooms for the flowers
I have not put sentiments on till I hear what Robert wants on them

These bags are brilliant, they hold quite a few Travel/Miniature products.
Audrey (DIL) has the products bought and ready.
They have a man teacher, I will make a box for his gift ... don`t know what that is yet.

That`s it for today
Thank you for your visit I really appreciate it
Till next time

Two Little Cards

Hello Blog friends and followers, thank you for popping in and Thank You for all your comments on my box.  Remember it was not my idea it was http://johnnextdoor.blogspot.co.uk/ ... did you pop over and have a look at John`s Blog???
I use StampinUp Ink pads.  I really like them and use them lots now I have mastered getting them open!!!  The girl I get my things from often sends me a Free Gift.  The last gift was the Thankful Life Stamp Set.  It is one of their multiple layer sets.  I have lots of their "two step" sets and love them.  This one I found a bit tricky but I got there in the end.
Here are two cards I made using the set.  I have made more but always forget to photograph them.

Included in the set is the vase and sentiment
Base White Card Stock, pink card for matting
I inked my stamp then stamped off some ink on a crinkled up piece of Cling Film
That gave me a textured effect on the vase
That`s it for today
Thank you so much for your visit I really appreciate it
Till next time

My take on "Johnnextdoors" Box!!!

Hello Blog friends and followers, thank you so much for popping by.  I love that you take time from your busy days to visit.
Hope you all enjoyed the weekend weather.  We managed to share in it here in the North East of Scotland.  Not wall to wall sunshine but who cares the sun shone a fair bit it was warm, that`s a real bonus for us.
A week past Saturday on  http://johnnextdoor.blogspot.co.uk/ John showed a beautiful box.  A few asked for a Tutorial, John gave us that this Saturday, John is so generous with his Crafty Knowledge.  If you have not visited John`s Blog please pop over and take a look he makes some stunning cards, also some amazing 3D projects.

Here is my take on John`s Box:-
The box was made using white 300gsm card
I added paper round the box because there were sticky finger marks on the white!!!
SB Die for the base and lid .... John did not do his as fancy
Flowers made using a very old Woodware Punch, bits of greenery from my Die Cuts Box
Some ribbon and dazzler from my stash

I have to admit it was a rather fiddly project, I did enjoy the challenge though.  That`s the first one, I have started another.  John said to put glue on the "tabs" and sick to a plain circle cut for the base.  Personally I found it easier to put the glue on the base and stick a few tabs at a time.

That`s it from me for today
Thank you so much for your visit I really appreciate it
Till next time
 Hugs

Box & Card

Good morning Blog friends and followers, thank you for calling by.
My heart goes out to all those people in London effected by the horrific fire.  The emergency services and the local community have done so well.  I just hope the people are found homes ASAP
Our son is Station Officer at a Fire Station in Dundee and as you can imagine the talk has all been about what has happened.  I thank God that no Fire Fighters lost their lives, they are the ones running "in" to a burning building while helping people to run "out"   So many lives have been devastated so quickly and in a terrible way.
I am struggling a little to find my MOJO ... checked my suitcase but its not in there!!!
I needed a Box and gift card for a friends birthday.  I made her Birthday Card using the same paper but guess what ... Yep!! it is in the envelope all sealed and I forgot to photograph it.
Here are my Box & Card:-
Papers are from an A4 Pad, I had a look but could not find the front cover
Base of the box just Bog Standard white 300gsm A4 card stock
A very old SB Lacy Squares Die
Butterfly made from beads, plus a bow, some wire and a border of sparkly stuff all from my stash

That`s it for today,
Thank you for your visit I really do appreciate it
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend
Till next time

A little bit of Holiday Colouring

Good morning Blog friends and followers, thank you for popping by.
While I was having a cuppa this morning I turned on the television to see what was happening in the world.
Oh! My! Goodness! more tragedy!!! My thoughts and prayers are with these poor people effected by the terrible fire in that block of flats in London.
I have not managed to make any cards since I returned home form holiday.  I think I left my MoJo in the Algarve.  I popped some books to read and pieces I could colour in my luggage.  I am an early riser, Hubby is not, in the time I had to myself I coloured a few pieces.
Here is one of them.

It is a Sugar Nellie image I downloaded many years ago
I have a few downloaded, it is good to print some off  when you want them
It is coloured using Spectrum Noir Pencils

That`s it for today
I really must try to get some projects started
Thank you for calling by I really appreciate it
Till next time

Happy 90th Birthday Card

Good Monday morning folks, I hope you are all well and ready for the week ahead.
We are back from our holiday in the Algarve where the weather was amazing, blue skies all day every day.  I LOVE the heat but I do NOT lie in the sun, getting older wrinkles start to appear naturally I don`t want to add to them!!!  We did lots of walking, approx 5 miles every day, plus meeting with up and having days away, BBQs and meals with friends who live out there.
Washing and Ironing baskets emptied, cases back in the attic for now!!!  Hopefully they will be down in a couple of months for my sister Hazel and I going off on our annual holiday, nothing booked as yet.
Today`s card  is one ordered by an old lady in the village to give to her friend for her 90th Birthday.

Base card 6x6

Happy Birthday Card

Hello Bloggers, I just want to thank you all for calling by and commenting.
These last few weeks I have been away with John in Portugal on the Algarve enjoying myself.  I did schedual a few posts as I find it very frustrating trying to do it on  the iPad.
I don`t ever mention that we are away from the house, we live so rural and rather isolated.
I have lots and lots of people who call into the Blog but never leave any sign that they have actually visited.  They are just in those numbers I can see. You just don`t know who looks in.
A friend of a friend had posted all over Facebook and Twitter that they were off to the Florida for a 3 week trip and wondered she arrived back why her house had been ransacked.  They reckoned someone had actually slept in their bed!!!  The ironic thing was she kept saying to people "how did they know we were away from the house" DOH!!!
Here is a card I made for my neighbour before I left.  I saw something similar on Pinterest that I quite liked and did a take on it.  Pinterest is brilliant if you hit a spell of Crafters Block!!!

Kraft Card
SB Die for the trellis effect
SW Die for the Ivy
TH Tattered Florals for the flowers
SU Sentiment

That`s it for today, thank you so much for your visit much appricated
Till next time

Silver Wedding Wishes

Hello Blog friends and faithful followers, thank you for all your visits.
I am part of a brilliant group of nine Crafty (in the arty way) friends.  We live widely spread out over this country plus one in Germany.  We meet up every 6 months for a few days together, we laugh, chat, eat, have a few drinkies, lots of food, shopping and absolutely loads and loads of FUN!!!
We initially met through Sue Wilson`s Blog, got together at a Crafty Weekend and have stayed firm friends ever since.  We keep in touch daily, we manage lots of fun and laughter.  We share all our crafty projects both good and any disasters we may have.  We love to see what each of us has made whether at home, at a Class or Workshop we might have been lucky enough to go to.
One of  group of nine, Diane and her hubby Julian cerebrated their Silver Wedding in May. They had a Garden Party in their own beautiful garden for the occasion.  I really hope she does not mind me sharing her card with you.
It is a very simple card, I think it is quite effective, says what it needs to say.
Diane lives way down in Southamton, I just had to add a little Thistle to the card, well!!! it was sent all the way from Scotland.
I had a spell away from Blogging, I have been lucky many of my Blog friends have returned. I really, really appreciate that.
I thought you might like to see how our Grandsons are getting on.
Thomas the older one is very tall, at just 12 will be 13 in September, he is almost 6`.  His dad, our son is 6`3" his mum  5`7" my side of the family are all quite tall.   Robert 10 is average for his age but is desperate to be tall like his big brother.  He is signed with Dundee Football Club as a Junior Trainee Goalkeeper and says he needs to be tall to "fill" the goal.
That`s them with their dad in our house a few weeks ago.

Must crack on once again, loads to do, not enough time to do it all.
Thank you very much for your visit I really appreciate you take time out of your busy day to call by.
Till next time.

StampinUp Beautiful You

Hello Blog friends, followers and popper inners, great to have you here.
Life is getting rather hectic here once again.  I know a lot of you will be the same ... you retire and think you will have all the time in the world.  Well it does not work like that, well not in this house anyway.
I have a selection of StampinUp Beautiful You cards for you today.  Nothing fancy but the stamp set is good for quick cards.  There are two lots of stamps in this set.  I used them a fair bit when they arrived but as usual they now seem to be just sitting on the shelf!!!!

This is a selection cards I made when the stamps first arrived.
This is the only individual one I could find.  I probably have not photographed any others
Stamped in black on grey card coloured using a white pencil. In real life it is rather effective.

That`s it for today
Thank you for your visit, I really appreciate you taking time to look in.

A very Quick post

Hello Blog friends and followers, thank you so much for all your visits.  Without you guys popping in all this Blogging would not be worth it.  I am a bit rushed today, I am making this very quick.  I was asked to make a "man card" with a lighthouse!!!  Right!! OK!! I knew I did not have anything with a Lighthouse.  I went to Google and asked for printable pictures of Lighthouses ... I had so many to choose from.
Here is my card:-
White base card
Black and Blue card from my stash for the mats.
Image printed from Google
Sentiment computer generated

That`s it from me for today
Thank you for calling by I really appreciate that you take time to do that.

Flower Tutorial

Hello Bloggers, thank you for your visits and lovely comments.  I really love that you take time out from your busy day to come in.
Yesterday I was making flowers the same as I had on the Lantern in my Tutorial from 11th May.
I decided to photograph as best I could each stage so you could see how I did them.
Go get  a coffee and some biscuits!!!
Here goes:-
Spellbinder Garden Blooms, you have 3 sizes of Dies in the pack.   I cut mine double from 2 sheets of paper, just as many as you can get from the sheets.
I used 160gsm paper, you can use heavier but I certainly would not recommend anything lighter in weight
Ink the edges is you want, I do, the flowers don`t look so flat then (in my opinion) spritz with water.  Do not make them too wet or they will fall apart at the next stage.
Using something smooth and rounded (I used an thinnish pencil) scrunch each petal along the pencil with your thumb nail and fingers.
All done, leave them to dry completely.  I have no patience, I pop mine on a Baking Tray and pop them in the oven for 5/10 mins.  Honest I really do!!!
Once dry gently tease the petals out just a little, you will see they now have some nice texture on them.
Twist each petal under using your tweezers.
Here I have one large, two medium pieces and a small piece to make up a flower.  I have taken one petal off the smallest piece, I find it easier to make up this way.
I put a large blob of Cosmic Shimmer glue in the centre of the largest piece (you don`t see it very well but it is there)
Pop a medium piece in offsetting the petals,  hold down a few seconds till the glue bites.  Do the same with the next medium piece also offsetting, lastly the small piece.  Your flower should look like the one above.
These are the flowers I managed to get out of the pieces I cut.  You will notice they don`t all look exactly the same and there is also a small one.  The number of flowers you get depends on how you put them together and how many you damage when you are scrunching them!!! Think I damaged 2 pieces in this lot, it always happens.
I cut out some Ivy using 2 of Sue Wilson`s Dies for extra decoration.  Any leaf Die is fine the green gives some contrast.

That`it from me for today. I am off for a cuppa.
Thank you for your visit I really appreciate it
Till next time

My Happy Accident!!!

Hello Blog friends and followers hope you are all well.  Thank you so much for my welcome back to Blogland, and for all your lovely comments.
We seem to be drifting between Summer and Spring here in the North East of Scotland. There is nothing much we can do about the weather so we just have to go with the flow as they say!!!
If you happen to have landed here because you pressed a wrong button ... welcome.  Please stay a while and have a look round, I love having visitors.
After meeting Maureen Killen a couple of years ago I have learnt so much about colouring.  Maureen makes beautiful cards, most are stamped and coloured.  I have crafted in lots of ways since a little girl "many years ago".  Like most little ones I did colour, always had colouring books and pencils. However it was never like the amazing things we have on offer today.
I have a few Digital Images that I decided I would print off to send to Maureen to help her pass the time while she is not able to get about after her accident. The image I am showing I mistakenly printed in A4 size.  I was just going to use the back of the paper as scribble, then thought I would have a go at actually colouring it.  It is rather big and a lot to colour,  I have done it, I still have lots to learn but I am quite happy with it.
I printed the image from a My Besties CD by Sherri Baldy.
I used Prisma Pencils to colour

My friend Elaine spotted and admired it, she has three Granddaughters so I gave it her . She said she would frame it for the girls Playroom.    I would not have used it, we have no girls in the family.

Having printed it off A4 by mistake I have decided to call it "My Happy Accident"

`cepta  plus anyone else interested in making any of the Origami Boxes on  http://flowersribbonsandpearls.blogspot.co.uk/ the 12x12 paper packs from "The Works" is perfect for making them.
Here are pictures of 2 of the packs I have.  I have had mine for a while and actually think they now £4 put still well worth the money.

Thank you so much for calling by I really appreciate it

Simple Cards

Hello Bloggers, thank you for your visit, I love that you pop into see what I have been doing.
I live in a tiny village, more of a hamlet really.  If you sneezed as you entered you will be through and out the other side by the time you lift your head again, I really mean it.  We have to travel 3 miles east or west to find a shop, we tend to stock up rather than leave things to chance.
I have a couple of old ladies who ask me to make their cards.  They phone along if they want "special" cards made.  I now have them organised with a box of simple everyday cards which I top up for them.
I just love the Stippled Blossom Stamp Set from SampinUp  (no longer available)  SU Change there products twice a year, when they change that`s it gone for ever.  My stamps are so well used they might even start wearing out, I do hope not I love them.
Anyway here is a selection of Stippled Blossom cards I have made for one of the ladies.

White card for the base cards from Samuel Taylor, I really like their card.
Coloured card from my Bit Box for matting
Stippled Blossom Image stamped on to the same card as I used for the base cards.   I often have bits in my Bit Box which I use up first.
StampinUp Ink Pads

I use Phil Martin Sentiment stamps to make sentiment banners for along the bottom.  I leave them separate with some DST on the back.  I give them a good selection including a couple of Sympathy ones they can add as required.

Thank you for calling by I really appreciate it

Origami Boxes

Hello Bloggers, first I would like to thank all you kind people for calling in on my Blog after my long break from Blogging.  Without you calling in and leaving your kind comments none of it would be worth while.
I am actually enjoying being back and looking at all your wonderful work.  Everyone does very different things, its great to get ideas, hints and tips.
Recently my DIL asked if I would make a few things for a stall she is having to help with School Funds.  Robert is still at their local Primary School where there are only 14 pupils.  They do lots of things to raise money for School Trips. This always has to include hiring a Mini Bus the money is usually spent on that.
Today I am showing you the Origami Boxes I made, I love making this kind of project more so than cards.
I started making these boxes a few years ago after watching a wonderful Video Tutorial on:-
http://flowersribbonsandpearls.blogspot.co.uk/   Christina has some fantastic tutorials you can access from her Blog.  If you go to Video Tutorials, scroll till you find Origami Boxes its all there for you to use.

Most of the boxes are made using double sided paper/card pads from "The Works"
They are brilliant and cost approx £4 for 24 double sided sheets of 12x12 paper/card.   There are lots of different pads to choose from.  If you don`t have a store near you, pop online, choose and have it delivered to your door. That`s what I do, I live 20miles from our nearest store the price of the P&P is less than I would be in petrol and parking.
Ribbon, lace and pearls from my stash
Flowers all made by me, something else I love making.

Thank you for your visit I really appreciate it

Lantern Tutorial

Hello Bloggers, hope you are all well.
I had a couple of requests for instructions for the Lantern I showed last week.
Go grab yourself a BIG cup of coffee and a whole box of biscuits, this is very picture heavy.
I am not that good at these sort of things but here we go:-
I cut 4 panels using the above Die.  Any Die you have will do, if its a narrow Die like a SW Striplet Die you can do it on one sheet of card if you have a large Die Cutting Machine.  I did  a few for Christmas using one of Sue`s Christmas Striplets
I cut the panels out leaving approx 1cm border ALL THE WAY ROUND
Score and fold in that 1cm border on all sides.  Leave the bottom ones they sit inside your top and base
I used this Acetate to line my box it is a good heavy weight Acetate which helps strengthen the box
I used narrow Red DST to stick the Acetate to the inside of the box
I used Cosmic Shimmer glue on the 1cm folded pieces
Stuck them, pinned them and left them to dry.  We then need to make a Lid & Base.
Once dry I measured the top and made these.
The of course these will be or should be the same size top and bottom. I measured and made them just a tiny bit more than 1cm deep.  Punch a hole in the center of the "top" for threading the ribbon through.  I cut a square of card to hide the tails of the ribbon inside the top.  If using it as a Lantern I did not stick the base on.  I find it easier to lift the box to switch on & off the Battery Candle.  If you are using the box for another type of gift I would stick the base on
Your finished Lantern ready to decorate.  Looks nice just like that or you can do this:-
I hope you understand all these instructions.  Please just ask if there is anything I can help you with.

Thank you for calling in I really do appreciate it

Pretty as a Picture

Hello Bloggers hope you have all had a good weekend.  The weather here was wonderful, wall to wall sunshine, it was a bit windy and just a little on the cood side.  However if the sun shines it makes us all feel so much brighter.  Don`t know about you but I manage to get loads done when the sun is shining.
We have been busy in the house, having the bathroom re-done.  We have taken away the bath and replaced it with a big shower cubicle.  John does not have the power in his arms to push himself out of the bath.  John Jr did say "its a family house people expect to see a bath"  I told him it was "our" family house and the bath was never used.  We do have a shower room with a double shower now we have two.  We just need to get the flooring organised and that will be it.
I was looking through old files that I managed to find.  I found some Sugar Nellie images I bought years ago, it is all boys in our family but the Sugar Nellie girls are so sweet I had to have some.
I do not do a lot of stamping and did not do colouring till I met Maureen Killen.  She gave me a few few hints and tips plus lots of encouragement.  I think she dreaded her Postman coming, I used to send her all me projects to keep in exchange for advice.

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my Lantern.
